External Exhibits

As part of its outreach programme, the Museum works to broaden its presence in our communities through partnerships with fellow institutions.

Our Medical History

In 2007, Cayman Brac Museum Supervisor, Mrs. Wanda Tatum, and, Curator, Felicia McFarlane, approached the National Museum for assistance with developing an exhibition for their newly created west wing gallery.

This exhibit offers a cursory examination of the medical history of our islands' and women's roles in medical care. The exhibit also features Cayman Brackers in the industry.

A first for the small community Museum, is the inclusion of an audio visual presentation detailing a brief history of the Faith Hospital by Vanderlin Dilbert .  Another first is a section designed for children, with art and graphics by Simone Scott.  Led by Debra Barnes-Tabora, the team of Richard Nelson and Joseph Douglas designed, constructed and installed the exhibition.  http://www.gov.ky/portal/page?_pageid=1142,2104198&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL

 Back Yard

Back Yard is a small versatile exhibition housed in the National Trust's Mission House.  It offers an interpretive view of a common traditional outdoor activity, caboose cooking.  This exhibition was designed and installed by Museum staff.

Kirk Harbour Site and Stepwell

From an extensive archaeological collection at Kirk Harbour Site, and at the site of the sites historic stepwell, the Museum installed a display of a small number of objects from the site.  The  rescue and salvage archaeology operation was led by Dr. Margaret Leshikar-Denton in 2003.  The Museum expresses its sincere gratitude to property owner, Gerry Kirkconnell and the entire Kirkconnell family.

Signage for the stepwell display was designed by Wray Banker.
