The Changing Gallery

Unlike all the other galleries, which are permanent, the purpose of the Changing Gallery is to display temporary exhibits that will rotate periodically on an annual schedule. Exhibits pertain to significant developments in contemporary Caymanian life, as expressed through various media, including the performing arts.

Sport in the Cayman Islands is the subject of the first exhibit, opening in this second quarter of 2009. Art from the McCoy Prize, a much anticipated annual summer event, is scheduled for showcasing in this gallery also.

Components of each Changing Gallery exhibit are to be reflected concurrently in the nearby Children Gallery. This will enable the younger age group to be exposed to and enjoy the Changing Gallery’s various subjects through hands-on exploration and play. The Changing Gallery’s regular renewal injects previously missing novelty of experience for return visitors, and thus serves as a key magnet for the entire Museum. That positions it to serve a profound educational and development role for contemporary Caymanian art, in particular, and culture, as a whole.

Individuals interested in sponsoring an exhibit in this attention-grabbing programme, may contact Exhibits Manager Wray Banker, at wraybanker@museum.ky.
