An important and urgent objective is enhancing the Museum’s pool of expertise and support, resources that generally emanate from diverse and enthusiastic membership.

In re-developing this pool, the Museum is appealing to all to join forces to work and aspire together. This will enable future generations to inherit that sense of identity, pride and belonging with which a Museum can imbue its communities. Members’ support help to advance existing programmes and to break ground in new initiatives. In the early phases of the re-launch, persons who join the Museum therefore have an opportunity to participate in the institution’s development into a vital cultural centre for local residents and a key attraction for visitors.

The Museum newsletter, The Logbook, the first issue to be published since 2004’s Hurricane Ivan, appeared in the last quarter of 2008. The newsletter updates members and other interested persons on the status of plans, programmes and policies.
