Tell us a little about yourself and your role at the Museum.

Hello! I am Jaeda-Lee Pindling, an intern at the Cayman Islands National Museum. I am currently stationed in the gift shop where I provide general supervision for the museum, assist guests with queries, guide them through the museum and complete sales and several administrative tasks such as taking calls, drafting and responding to emails and filing documents. I also assist with the relocation of artefacts, the installation of exhibits,  and I often represent the museum at events such as career fairs and heritage day functions.

How long have you been interning with the Museum, and what first attracted you to this opportunity?

I have been at the museum for 13 months, with some interruptions, and I was first attracted to this opportunity because I was curious about the museum and what it entails as I had never visited before.

What has been your favorite project or experience during your time here?

My favourite project so far has been summer camp. I get to have fun and  experience the different personalities of the children, while also learning more about the history and culture of Cayman.

What do you think makes the Museum an important place for the Cayman Islands community?

I think the Museum is an important place for the Cayman Islands community because of the history and the stories it holds and shares to Caymanians and the wider community. I think it is important that it remains a constant in society because things and times may change, but it is good to know that the history of the Cayman Islands remains and is being preserved.

What are three words you would use to describe your internship experience?

Educational 2. Fun 3. Unique

Outside of work and studies, what are some of your hobbies or interests?

Some of my hobbies include dancing, reading, and taking pictures.

If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would it be and why?

I would spend the day with Mr. Ira Thompson because we could spend the whole day collecting stuff.

Finally, what has made your time at the Museum special?

The persons I work with and the interactions I have with guests on a daily basis has made my time at the Museum special.
